I feel guilty saying this as we are in the midst of a worldwide pandemic, but… life here in my tiny corner of the universe has been really good lately. It hasn’t been without its challenges (for example, I am currently out of work with no PTO to my name!), but I have found that I’m really enjoying this slower, simpler season of life.

Life lately has consisted of lots of baby snuggles, baking, gardening, long walks, and grilling out. I’ve been listening to new podcasts and re-reading favorite books. I’ve been getting to know our neighbors better and realizing just how much I love Winston-Salem. Most of all, I’ve been challenged to confront the idea that maybe I don’t need as much as I thought I did to live a fulfilling life.

I read a quote recently that I now have posted on our refrigerator:
“It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.”
-Charles Spurgeon-
How true is that?! I am finding a lot of joy in the here and now, despite technically having “less” in my life. It feels like such a gift to be content with this moment alone, and to take time to enjoy the abundance that God has given me during this unexpected season.
