I’m not even going to apologize for how cheesy this post title is because it perfectly describes how I’ve been feeling lately! Let me start by saying that I really did not expect to have a baby shower because of COVID, but we actually ended up having two celebrations thrown for us! I am still in awe over the love + generosity that has been poured out on our family.
Last Sunday we went to visit Josh’s family for home church, and they had set up a beautiful celebration complete with a lunch spread (my favorite- carnitas tacos!), games, and gifts. It was so thoughtful and such a nice reminder that we have immense love and support from family as we prepare to bring our baby boy into the world. I have also been blown away by how much both of our families have loved and accepted Baby K, who also got some baby shower gifts, not to mention constant snuggles!
On Wednesday night we went to community group and they surprised us with yet another baby shower!!! Wow wow wow. The backyard where we normally meet for group was beautifully decorated, there was a gorgeous (and delicious) cake, and we all played a “name that baby” game which was hilarious. Everyone even chipped in to get us the double stroller off our registry which I am sooo excited about! God has truly surrounded us with the most kind and loving community.
Another note about Wednesday- that morning I had my 33 week appointment and it went great! It is always so reassuring to hear that little heartbeat. My doctor said baby is already in a great position for birth- whoop whoop! Only 6ish weeks to go!
On Thursday, Josh and I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary. How it has already been 4 years, I do not know! What I do know is that I am so thankful to have had Josh by my side for every second of that time. That evening my dad was kind enough to drive up from Charlotte to watch Baby K while Josh and I went on a dinner date. It was so nice to have a few hours to just talk and enjoy each other’s company.
Overall it was such a fun and joyful week. As my due date approaches, I am feeling more peace than ever knowing that we are so loved by family and friends. This baby doesn’t realize it yet, but he is the luckiest!
