I recently came across this quote and it stopped me in my tracks:
“By God’s grace, I can resist the temptation to treat my children as interruptions to my will for my life. Instead, God enables me to treat my children as precious gifts he is using to shape me into his image according to his will for my life.”
-Gloria Furman

I have to confess that I often view my babies as interruptions, grumbling under my breath as one of them starts crying the minute I sit down with breakfast and a hot cup of coffee. I have been practicing asking God to give me a renewed perspective throughout the day. Every dirty diaper, every nursing session, every middle-of-the-night wake up has the power to transform me more and more into the image of Christ if I let it. How amazing is that, and why don’t I take hold of these opportunities for ever-increasing glory more often?! To be perfectly honest, most of the time I resist this holy transformation and choose to complain instead. As always, I’m thankful for the grace to begin again- to find magic in the mundane, to contemplate the Lord’s glory as I go about my days, and to be transformed.
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
-2 Corinthians 3:18
